Initial Testing

Candidates will be tested on 6 stations:

-Trauma Patient Assessment
-Medical Patient Assessment
-Airway Management
-Cardiac Arrest Management
-Seated Supine Immobilization
-Random Skill Station (either Long Bone Immobilization or Joint Immobilization)

All Connecticut practical examinations are tested to the latest version of the NREMT Skill Sheets. These sheets can be downloaded by clicking here. Upon completion of your test, you will sign out with the Registrar and are free to leave.

Your test results are compiled by the CT OEMS Chief Examiner on the night of the examination. The Chief Examiner will deliver the examination results to CT OEMS on the next business day following the examination. Once CT OEMS receives the examination sheets, they will review them and make a final pass/fail decision on each sheet. Compiled results are emailed to your EMT Program Instructor 3-5 business days following the examination and your EMT Program Instructor will notify you.

Code One Training Solutions will NOT see or receive your results. Please do not call us or CT OEMS for results - they will be delivered by your EMT Program Instructor as soon as they have them.

If you have passed all stations, then you have completed this component of your EMT testing - best of luck on your written exam!

If you have failed 1 station, you can make an appointment with your EMT Program Instructor to review and retrain that station. This will suffice your practical examination requirements.

If you have failed 2 or 3 stations, you will need to repeat those stations.

If you have failed 4, 5, or 6 stations then you will need to repeat the entire examination.

Dress to impress.Test candidates should wear comfortable professional attire to the examination. No clothing that identifies the candidate to an organization, agency, or department will be permitted into the examination (i.e. Fire Department shirts). No hats will be permitted in the examination. Clothing should also be appropriate for the movements and activities being performed (skirts and low cut shirts will not be permitted).

Test candidates MUST bring one form of identification to the examination that must:

-Be current and valid
-Contain a photo and a signature
-Be a U.S. or State official ID such as a Passport, Military ID, Driver’s License, or Official Student ID.

Any candidate that does not comply with the above rules will be dismissed from the examination and will forfeit their examination fee and test results.

Testing Accommodations may only be provided with authorization from OEMS in advance of the examination. Documentation supporting the need for accommodation must be supplied with the requests. All requests for special accommodation must be made no less than ten (10) business days prior to the examination.
