The EMS Refresher program at Code One Training Solutions, LLC meets the NREMT and CT OEMS requirements to renew EMT and EMR certifications. This 30 hour course reviews and updates topics and skills for certified EMTs and EMRs.
Participants complete a refresher in American Heart Association BLS (CPR/AED) for Healthcare Providers as part of this program. Additional topics covered include Safety and Wellbeing of the EMS Provider, Scene Size-Up, Airway Management, Patient Assessment, Medical Emergencies, Trauma Emergencies, Immobilization, OB/GYN/Pediatric Emergencies, and the newly required Transitions program. Skills practiced include airway management, trauma patient assessment, medical patient assessment, spinal immobilization, splinting, and cardiac arrest management.
Upon completion of course topics, participants will test for renewal of EMT or EMR certification. The refresher examination is conducted by CT OEMS in class.
Prior completion of an Emergency Medical Technician or Emergency Medical Responder program. Students that have failed the NREMT written examination three times may complete this course to obtain three more attempts.
Completion of this program renews the Connecticut EMT or EMR certification. This course may be used in conjunction with Continuing Education Hours to renew NREMT certification (this course meets the EMT Refresher and EMT Transition requirements set by the NREMT). American Heart Association BLS (CPR/AED) for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card valid for 2 years.

Certified Emergency Medical Services personnel; individuals who need to complete an EMT-Refresher program to obtain additional NREMT written examination attempts.
BLS for Healthcare Providers certification and pocket mask (if CPR session attended); Code One's EMS-R Review Manual; Connecticut OEMS written examination; NREMT refresher and transition certificates if requested.
Testing is completed for CPR and EMT or EMR recertification. Proficient demonstration of CPR skills and a score of 84% or higher on the written examination are required for CPR recertification. Proficient demonstration of BLS skills and a score of 70% or higher on the written examination are required for EMT or EMR recertification. Students that do not acheive either of these will be remediated and allowed an additional attempt to test by appointment..
